Does Artwell Counseling accept insurance?
No, we do not accept insurance, all services are self pay.

Insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis. Many of the issues addressed in counseling do not meet the criteria for a formal diagnosis, such as counseling regarding an issue related to a relationship. Counseling is often about helping people through a difficult season or situation that does not involve a "disorder".

We keep your records confidential and are not shared with anyone, except in cases of your express written consent, or in cases protected by law (ie: your safety or the safety of others is at risk). When you use insurance to pay for therapy sessions, your confidential records become a part of your medical health records and may have an impact on your future employment and/or insurance coverage.

Counseling is a collaborative process, you and your counselor will determine the course of treatment, the length, and duration of therapy sessions together. The length and duration of sessions are pre-determined if you utilize an insurance company.

How long does therapy last?

We treat each person individually and work with our clients to develop a treatment plan and a course of therapy uniquely designed to fit their needs. With that in mind, counseling can last just a few weeks or go on for many months, depending on what you need to work through and the pace you need to do so.

Each session is approximately 45-50 minutes. There are times where clients request 80 minutes for an extended session, or 110 minutes for a double session.

Does Artwell offer virtual appointments?

Yes, Telehealth sessions are available for adults only. We use Doxy.me which is HIPPA compliant and secure.

How is Confidentiality handled?

At Artwell Counseling we hold your confidence in high regard. We are committed to keeping your sessions a place for you to speak freely about whatever is on your heart and mind. We are HIPAA compliant to ensure that your identity and information are kept confidential. However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to breach confidentiality in instances of suspected past or present abuse and/or neglect of children, adults, and elders. This includes informing law enforcement and child protection agencies based on information provided by the client or collateral sources. Additionally, if the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person, the appropriate agencies must be notified.
