What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a powerful, neuroscience-based therapy that helps process and release deeply stored emotional and physical trauma. By identifying specific "brainspots"—eye positions connected to unresolved experience.

Brainspotting allows the brain to access and heal issues at their core. This focused treatment engages the body’s natural ability to process pain, trauma, dissociation, and other distressing symptoms in a safe and supportive environment.

How Does Brainspotting Work?

Developed in 2003 by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting uses a client’s visual field to locate areas in the brain linked to emotional and physical distress. When a brainspot is identified and the client focuses on it, the brain begins to process and release stored trauma. Because trauma is held in both the brain and body, Brainspotting helps activate deep healing where other therapies may not reach.

Brainspotting sessions can be enhanced with bilateral sound, which helps regulate the nervous system and deepen the healing process. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting does not require verbal processing, allowing clients to work through trauma without having to recount painful memories.

Why Choose Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is highly effective for individuals struggling with trauma, emotional distress, and performance-related issues. This therapy:

- Accesses and resolves trauma at the subconscious level

- Bypasses the cognitive brain, reaching deeply stored memories and emotions

- Allows healing without the need to verbally discuss the trauma

- Helps regulate emotions and reduce distress in a safe environment

- Provides lasting relief by reprocessing and integrating traumatic experiences

Who Can Benefit from Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is effective for a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to:

  • Trauma & PTSD (CPTSD)

  • Identification of your brainspot using a pointer and tracking eye movements

  • The option to use bilateral sound/music for deeper healing

  • Somatic experiences such as emotional releases, body sensations, or memory recall

  • A client-led process—speak as little or as much as you feel comfortable

  • Sessions typically last 50 minutes with extended sessions available upon request

After Your Brainspotting Session

Brainspotting initiates deep healing that continues beyond the session. You may experience:

✔️ Emotional breakthroughs & new perspectives

✔️ Feelings of relaxation, calmness, or exhaustion

✔️ Reduction in physical symptoms & chronic pain

✔️ Heightened emotional sensitivity or relief

✔️ Increased mental clarity and reduced distress

To support your healing, hydration, rest, and self-care are recommended after your session. Many clients notice additional insights and shifts in the days following their session.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions varies based on individual needs. Some clients experience significant relief after just one session, while others choose ongoing Brainspotting to address deeper or multiple concerns.

No-Talk Therapy Option

Brainspotting is unique in that talking is not required for healing. If you prefer a non-verbal approach, you can process your experiences silently while still achieving profound results.
